as thoughts scorch my mind.
Music is blasting through headphones.
I am afraid to turn it off,
because I will burn alive without it.
I let it consume me so I can breathe.
Depression comes easily when it is gone.
Slowly at first, and then like wildfire.
I cannot prevent it this time.
Despite the heat, my body is cold.
I feel empty, lost, confused.
I am frozen inside the flames.
My flesh blackens, and pain is my best friend
until I can't sense it anymore,
but by then, I am ashes.
The cold fire has eaten away at me,
I have failed to keep it at bay
It is self-inflicted, for I have paused the music.
Love,
Lizz
